What the first appointment involves
Questions before hands. What hurts, when it started, what makes it worse, and what you actually need to get back to: whether that is diving, sitting through a shift, or lifting a grandchild.
Then physical assessment: how the joint moves, what is weak, where the pain genuinely originates. Referred pain is common and the sore spot is frequently not the source, which is why treating the painful area alone so often buys three good weeks and no more.
You leave with a working diagnosis, treatment, and two or three exercises.
Treating in the heat
Coast humidity changes rehabilitation in small but real ways. Swelling after injury or surgery is often worse here, so elevation and compression matter more. Exercise programmes are better scheduled early morning or evening than at midday. And hydration affects how muscles respond to loading more than most people expect.
We build those into the plan rather than handing you a programme written for a cooler climate.
What we treat most
Back and neck pain, knees, shoulders, the ordinary musculoskeletal caseload. Plus a distinct coastal component: watersports shoulders, running injuries from soft sand, and the back and shoulder problems that come with manual work on boats and in the hotels.

Common questions
How is this different from the hospital physiotherapy department?
Continuity, mostly. In a hospital department you are one slot in a long list and often see whoever is free. Here you see the same therapist each visit, and they remember what your knee did last week. In rehabilitation that matters more than equipment does.
Do I need a referral?
No. Book directly. If we think you need a scan or a specialist opinion first, we will say so.
How many sessions will I need?
Four to six for most straightforward problems. You get an honest estimate after the first assessment, and we tell you if we do not think physiotherapy is the right answer.
Do you cover the south coast?
Diani by arrangement. The ferry crossing makes it a longer trip, so south coast visits are grouped by day where possible.
