Speech Therapy in Mombasa

Why this is hard to find here
Speech therapy provision on the coast is considerably thinner than physiotherapy, and families regularly travel to Nairobi for assessments. That gap is the reason we offer it: particularly alongside stroke rehabilitation, where communication and swallowing problems are common and often go untreated entirely.
Adults after stroke
Difficulty finding words, understanding others, producing clear speech, or swallowing safely. Therapy is structured practice adapted to what each person actually needs to do, which is why we ask early which conversations matter most.
Swallowing difficulty deserves particular attention: food or fluid entering the airway causes chest infections, and regular coughing while eating after a stroke should be assessed rather than worked around.
Children
Delayed speech, unclear speech, difficulty being understood outside the family. Assessment establishes whether this is within normal variation or warrants support, and we are equally willing to tell you nothing needs doing.
Sessions are play-based, and parents are shown how to build the same work into daily routines. What happens across the week matters far more than the hour with us.

Common questions
Is there a speech therapist in Mombasa?
Provision on the coast is limited, which is why families often travel to Nairobi for it. We offer assessment and therapy locally for both adults and children.
My child is not talking yet. When should I get help?
Ranges are wide and many late talkers catch up unaided. But assessment is quick, and where support helps, earlier is better. Waiting and seeing is reasonable; waiting and worrying for a year is not.
Can speech recover after a stroke?
Often to a meaningful degree, though progress is usually slow and depends on the area affected and how much therapy is available. Frequency over months matters more than intensity in any single session.
Which language do you work in?
Whichever the patient actually uses: English, Swahili, or a mix. Tell us at booking, including where a household uses more than one.
