Why we offer this alongside physiotherapy
Stroke does not only affect movement. A significant proportion of stroke patients have difficulty with speech, language or swallowing, and on this coast those services are considerably harder to find than physiotherapy is.
Running both in one practice means a family arranging rehabilitation after a stroke is not assembling it from separate providers across the strip, and the therapists working with the patient can coordinate.
Adults after stroke
Difficulty finding words, understanding others, forming clear speech, or swallowing safely. Therapy is structured practice, adapted to what the specific person needs to do: which is why we ask early what conversations matter most to them.
Children
Delayed speech, unclear speech, and difficulty being understood outside the family. Assessment establishes whether this sits within normal variation or warrants support, and we are equally willing to say that nothing needs doing.
Sessions with children are play-based. Parents get shown how to build the same work into ordinary daily routines, because what happens during the week matters far more than the hour with us.

Common questions
My child is two and barely speaking. Should I wait?
Ranges are wide and many late talkers catch up without help. But an assessment is quick, and where support is needed, starting early makes a real difference. Waiting and seeing is reasonable; waiting and worrying for a year is not.
Can speech come back after a stroke?
Often, to a meaningful degree. Progress is usually slow and depends on the area affected and how much therapy is available. As with the physical side, frequency over months matters more than intensity in any one session.
Is swallowing difficulty serious?
It can be, food or fluid entering the airway causes chest infections. If someone coughs regularly while eating or drinking after a stroke, it should be assessed rather than managed by guesswork.
Do you work in Swahili and English?
Assessment and therapy are delivered in the language the patient actually uses. Tell us at booking which that is, including where a household mixes languages.
